Let us the United States as a precedent as an example what China should treat their minority. In general, the Americans are treating its Black minority very well. Starting when equal right in transportation and bus riding. They were given affirmartive actions for employment and education and other previlages. They were given fair share of social security benefits. They are getting much more than their fair share in the media, television, newspaper, advertisements, etc... They are getting fair housing. Much more so than other ethnic groups such as Latino, Asian and especially the American Indian who were originally living in this laned. But the result is, everyone can clear observe, the Black minority in the U. S. are exploiting their previleges. Black bus drivers harassing and unfairly treating non-Black riders. They using crimes and hasassments to force other race our of their neighbors moving to new development into the wilderness destroying our environment. Affirmative in education, taking away other ethnic groups rights for a fair eduaction lower the national literacy and eduaction standard compare to other countries. Affirmative action in employment lower the quality of american workers to the points of outsourcing even very simple jobs to other country. All of you that oppose China action are simply insulting Chinese intelligence, thinking China will be so stupid as to listen to one word you say. Just give me one reason why China should not suppress the illegal uprising and terrorism of its Tibetan minority groups?
China's human rights abuses are "staggering": the detention of hundreds of thousands of people, including political activists, for "reeducation" programs, and forced labor camps; and the liberal use of the death penalty in China -- including for political prisoners -- which makes China the site of 8 of every 10 government administered executions carried out in the world!
It is clear that the Communists can't be trusted at all and they have a bag full of tricks to fool not only Tibetans but the people of China with a state-controlled press. The solution is a free Tibet. There is no doubt that a sovereign Tibet would be a savior state not only for Tibetans but for all ethnic groups of China who have nowhere to go if they disagree with the CPC. A free Tibet would be such a free democratic heaven and haven.
Monks are not supposed to be involved in politic. It is against their religious principles. If he wants to maintain his spiritual power, the Dalai Lama must only be a spiritual leader of Tibet not a political one. Since he is the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, he had already lost his reincarnation ability. Such spiritual ability and environmental transformation will be lost once it passed the number thirteeen (13) which reminisces death, rebirth and recycle. In addition, by being pro Western countries, the Dalai Lama has betrayed the Environment and resorce conservation which the most fundamental belief of Buddhism. For example the Lama monk should only consume one meal per day and wear simple clothes. Western countries such as the United States is responsible environmental destruction and resource consumption. Imagine if Tibet were opened and big business and extensive tourism step in, What will happen to the Himalayan wilderness?
Ms. Liu, I can tell from your name that you are of Chinese origin and a new immigrant to the States. Most Americans of ethnic Chinese love both America and China and wish that the two great nations could live freindly and cooperatively with each other to build a new world of peace and prosperity. However, there are a handful like you, who, out of personal interests, such as to please your bosses and to secure your jobs, do your best to work for the opposite. There have been so many victims of the violence, including both Hans and Tibetans during the riot. Why don't you report what you were told by the majorities? Is that your so called impartiality. When 911 happened, many people in China expressed our wrath against terrorism and our profound sympathy for the American people. We didn't,like you, picked up the accusation of the Islam extyremists against America. Terror is terror. There is no excuse at all. I do find you most detestable and mean.
Melinda,
Why don't report how Han chinese people view the current event in Beijing or other places in China? Or you just filtered our opinion not supporting your bias?
What is most striking about the foreign reporters Lhasa tour is that there are young monks!!! One of the accusations that the west throws around is that China has no religious freedom, then I have to wonder where are these young monks coming from??? Are they planted there by the Chinese government to impress the foreign reporters or they are there simply because the Tibetans are free to practice their religion???
If the mons destory ur family, i believe u will say "i will protect u".
Free expression? Monks aren't given a free pass because their Monks. China could care less about freedom of speech. Let's not endanger the lives of the Monks because of the freedoms we have. After the media leaves, what does the media thinks happens to those who protests openly especially when the media is there. China is not about to lose face for Monks. It wouldn't surprise me if those Monks disappear without a trace.
For decades, tiny Barrow, Alaska, has been largely unknown and unnoticed. But with increasing global activity in the Arctic--especially from oil speculators--things are changing … fast.
