Perhaps this would at least partly explain my penchant to have been forgetful throughout childhood and all my adulthood (now at 62). The abuse was varied between a PTSD WWII veteran father, numerous teachers in the old South (I was Yankee in Suthrun territory in the '60s), numerous bullies, etc. etc. Memory function improves with certain over-the-counter pain relievers, such as Ibuprophin,... which further fits the picture, as well as shows that the basic neurology of memory is functional. When will this world realize the enormous damage they do to children with even lesser forms of torment?? The current anti-bully movement (perhaps sparked by my in-the-face presentation of the problem to a very influential man in the educational environs) is a good BASIC starting point, but a whale of a lot more needs to be done!! My IQ is 'way off the chart, yet I have functioned like a forgetful old man since childhood, and could have achieved a lot more for humanity had I been more organized and less forgetful! And my observations of hundreds of inner city children and adolescents further supports the validity of the above observations.
