@Evan Narcisse: great description. Let's pour out a little liquor for Fat Joe's career the next time we meet up.

@Switchbreak: The article I linked to was a bit unclear on the ratings, but a couple of things distinguish the Byron Report's recommendations from voluntary ratings like those of the United States' Entertainment Software Rating Board, which I think is what you're saying they resemble. First of all, they're not voluntary ratings. Second, they will be administered by the British Board of Film Classification, which is a quasi-governmental body. Third, the Byron Report proposes legal sanction if certain games are sold to minors. All of those distinguish the Byron report's recommendations from what we have here with the ESRB.

@10rd Ben: Thanks for the link--good piece. Just a tip; you may want to use TinyUrl in the future when posting links in the Level Up comments. Thanks!

Hey N'Gai,

A really great post on copy protection and very similar issues to the dubious quality post cropped up on the 'create digital music' blog. It covered similar ground, but was also significantly different. Check it out.

I was going to make a crack about the cake being a lie, but in light of Evan's post, I can only say:

Ack! Pfhtpfpth! *coughs hairball*
