thetruthhurts1, My comment in regards to rappers and entertainers was not to degrade them or generalize, but to point out the fact that as people (Blacks of African descent), we have minimized our capacity to become great leaders of the world.

You look at today’s Black youth (not just in America), the majority aspires to be entertainers, predominately rappers or sports superstars.  What about doctors, lawyers, and engineers that is what Africa needs, American too for that matter.  America is considered one of the strongest nations in the world, which mean we as African Americans are somewhat in a better position to assist our brothers and sisters abroad, but instead a lot of us have disassociated ourselves with Africa or of African descent.

My mention of the Black heroes of yesterday is to state that there are not any that stand out today to address Black issues.  Not in my opinion anyway.

We can debate history, our beliefs etc, but if we put our differences aside and come together as a people we might be able to make a difference.  Not just in Africa, but also in other parts of the world were people of African descent reside.   I say again we as African Americans are in the best position to assist our brothers and sisters abroad.  So if there are some Black engineers, doctors or anyone that can offer some positive stability to the region, I challenge you to do so.  It takes a lot of courage to stand-up to make a difference.

Pinata, I hate no one.  I have friends from all over the world.  I just stated facts.  You are right, evil can exist anywhere, but we were talking about racism against people of color (mostly Africans and their descendants throughout the world) and all the evil crimes that have been and continue to be committed against people of color.  At least that was my point.  I don't blame everyone either.

You see the events  in Kenya and New Orleans as different, but I see them coming from the same vain of racism, which is why I compared them.  The problem is that racism exists all over the world. Europeans, North Americans, and other nations have used Africa for gain (For clarification, not every European or US citizen or individual from any other nation has done this, but the leaders and "people with special interests" have).  I could go on and on about events throughout the world, but I'm tired.  Don't take things out of context.  Forgiveness is the way, but recognizing the truth matters, and you missed the point, so here it is plainly: Just because you forgive does not mean that you are to accept things as they are and not work toward change.

Newworldorder, just because rappers are the most visible does not mean that nobody cares.   That's just not true. Never generalize. My friends and I all work for causes such as these everyday in various ways:  most are activists.  The problem is that the media focuses on negativity in the Black community and the federal government agencies (FBI, CIA, etc) are working to disenfranchise and discredit work done by people who work toward change.  They did it during the 1960s-1980s against the Black Nationalist Movement: COINTELPRO, and they are still doing it. Example: Recently, the FBI was calling my job office looking for a friend who was protesting against housing demolition in New Orleans.  They were also taking pictures of her license plate.  She didn't commit any crimes, but she was put in jail for an entire day.  There is no need to replace Heuy, Martin, or Malcom.  Everyone can work in his/her own way to bring about equaility.

In addition, tribal wars have existed since the beginning of time in just about every part of the world.I'm not sure why we are relating the New Orleans disaster to what is happening in Kenya.  These are two separate events, in separate nations and separate problems.  So treat them separtely.  If a specific person or persons is responsible for an atrocitiy, then I agree, hold those accountable.  I disagree with who you are holding responsible.  I understand that people want acknowledgement of the atrocities done to them or maybe to their ancestors.  Ok, granted, I acknowledge it, but now what?  Where do you begin from there?

Posted By: Pinata (January 28, 2008 at 3:28 AM)

TheTruthHurts, I do not disagree with you except for the fact that somewhere along reading my entry you understood that I forgive without facing truth.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  You are right as Jesus always confronted a matter (in love) and spoke truth.  I do not say we should refrain from doing so.  Being of mixed decent of several nations and culturals and living in many different coutries I have learned that there is nothing new under the sun.  Hate is not reserved for a certain race or nation of people.  Unfortuantely hate is an equal opportunity sin.  But there are generational curses that exist in nations that can only be broken with forgiveness.  You said that we must bear responsibility for our own actions, yet why are people blamed for the actions of their forefathers? Or why do we assume something about a person, contingent  only upon what color their skin APPEARS to be.  I can't conceive how such presuppositions are wise, bear truth, or pave a road to anything positive.

I think of my grandfather who fought in the WWII who is of Jewish descent.  He is not a man of color but faced atrosities in Germany.  Do you think I blame all Germans for all the ills against Jews?  Do you think I believe that all Germans are white supremesists?  If I did, I would not have been able to befriend one of my best friend's who is German.  I "judged" her on her own merit.  She could be the great granddaughter of Hitler himself, and I would still love her the same because her forefathters sins are not hers.  That does not mean we don't suffer the consequences of our forefathers sins, but if we don't want to repeat history, then you have to start with forgiveness, or we will be doomed to repeat it.  You can not break a curse with more cursing.  Yes, stand for the truth (that is why I write these entries)  but how can one seek a blessing by spreading more curses?

At the end of the day racism, hatred and discrimination can be found in just about EVERY nation and race of people, but so can sin, and so can darkness.  You are right that we fight a war that we can not see...so it's best to fight it with weapons that can not be seen either...forgiveness, love, prayer...that's where we must begin, or there is no end...or at least that's what history teaches us so far.

Pinata, assuredly, “being civilized” does not refer to an entire nation or continent.  The response was to comments about how “even the Europeans could not civilize the Africans” as if civility is an innate trait of all Europeans and lacking in Africans.  In fact, it was in response to all who think like the person who commented that the world should turn its back on an entire continent if the continent was not so rich in “oil, diamonds, and gold.”

I agree that wisdom is more than knowledge.  Wisdom is the mind God (Proverbs 1) and worth far more than anything on earth.  Jesus stated that there is no commandment greater than to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself, and that we should treat others as we would have them treat us (Matthew 7:12).  Jesus also warned us not to judge one another, but we are to judge and condemn evil. We all sin and fall short of God’s glory.  He gave us His Word so that we can see ourselves in His Light and repent.

Jesus came to manifest the love of God for all humanity (John 3:16) and to fulfill the law and the work of those before Him (the prophets).  The prophets spoke out against evil as did Jesus. They spoke the truth and were not apologetic for it.  They were urgent in their call to repentance because they loved.   Moreover, Jesus took it further by conquering evil all while praying for those who sought His death.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not physical (weapons of flesh and blood), but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, (Inasmuch as we) refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the (true) knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

Acknowledging that we are engaged in spiritual warfare, I can not be complacent, and I can not be apologetic for speaking the truth. The truth is:  African nations have been and continue to be ravished by and in large numbers people of European decent.  We all must take a stand together against these atrocities against human life.  People of color throughout the world are discriminated solely based on race/ethnicity:

While six American youth were charged with attempted murder for a schoolyard fight, others received no punishment for cruel racist remarks and hanging nooses on public property.   Both parties were wrong for their actions and should receive appropriate consequences.  After Hurricane Katrina, New Orleanians were called refugees by a nation in which they were born, live, work, and pay taxes.  New Orleans residents also have to live with this blatant disregard for their lives by the nation’s leaders and have the relief they received taxed.  When fires engulfed California and the floods hit the midlands, the victims were called evacuees.  Systematic and institutional racism exists.

I am disheartened when I watch the news of the KKK march in Jena, Louisiana and hear the following:

Reporter:  Why do you hate Black people?

KKK male:  Uh, I don’t know.  Tradition maybe.

Reporter:  What is your purpose for being here?

KKK female:  I’m fighting for white rights.

My response to all of this is forgiveness, but I also know that a few have taken their rights and the rights of others, which allows all of European decent to have privileges they don’t deserve.  Robbing others of their basic human rights is a crime and sin of greed. People are tired of stuff like this and want justice and fairness.

Forgiveness is freedom and the greatest commandment is love, but to live your way, Pinata, is to just forgive others of their wrongdoings without ever judging it as evil or calling them on it.   This is certainly not what Jesus did or intended when He gave the Great Commission.  How can anyone ever repent, if they never understand why they should?  Should no one speak against evil?

You commented that “there is some validity in the blame.”  I argue that the statements are either true or not.  No one can play the middle ground.  Nobody’s perfect and everyone must bear responsibility for his/or actions.  The truth calls all on their actions.

As I stated before, the entire article is not news, its sensationalism, a trifling media tactic.  Who cares how they name their gangs?  The problem remains that as long as people are abused and feel hopeless, all manners of evil will persist throughout the world.   We don’t have to wait!  As Christians, we can make gains now for the cause of righteousness and possibly cause lives to be saved and relieve some human suffering! This truth is meant to convict the heart to repentance, not spew hate!

Good day,

I have read a lot of good views on the African situation and a lot of valid points have been made.  However, the root of the problem is racism.  The same systematic problem that has plagued the United States through most of the mid 80's thru most of the 90s, have surfaced throughout Africa.  The so called "civilized Europeans" that colonized Africa only imposed the same control measures, inhumane treatment on the native Africans as their brothers of the New World (North and South America). The same so called “civilized Europeans” colonized and imposed slavery in America nearly extinguished an entire nation of people (the Native American Indian).   It has only been a little over 13 years since the fall of Aparthied governement over the Majority (Black Africans) . Now all of a sudden the country is riddled with violent crime, HIV AIDS and any other negative plights that hidder the existence of the people.   This is the very reason why the world should not close the books on history, because it always resurface and repeats itself.  The truth is no one cares because they are either ignorant to the past or because they are Black people.  The sad part is not even the Blacks themselves care.  The Mandelas, Kings, Bikos, Malcom Xs, Muhammads and  P. Newtons are gone and may not ever be replaced.  Instead they have been replaced by Rappers or other entertainer icons that only care about the bling-bling.

Posted By: Pinata (January 27, 2008 at 1:17 AM)

I’m not as educated or as knowledgeable as everyone seems to be here.  I’m pretty simple.  And sometimes keeping it simple is best.

I’m not sure “being civilized” can refer to an entire nation or continent but more to an individual person.  I know a lot of uncivilized people in the US and I know a lot of civilized people on the continent of Africa.  I think the factor between being civilized and uncivilized is not just education, and I think there is a big difference between being knowledgeable and being wise.  I think the one thing that divides such camps is love.  Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up (1 Corinthians 8:1)  There is no commandment greater than these…To love him (God) with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbour as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices. Mark 12:30 & 33)

I guess the division I see among human beings is not based upon the nation they are from or the color of their skin, for these things are not controlled by us but by God who created all of us in His image and God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. (Genesis 1:31)  We all came from the same place and therefore we are all kin; brothers and sisters.  We don’t have a choice of where we came from, but we do for where we are going.  I guess I only separate based on lightness and darkness as God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. (Genesis 1:4)   This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. (John 3:19)  Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness (1 John 2:9)  If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar.  For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.  (1 John 4:20

The deeds of light and dark are obvious.  One of the things that separates these two camps is forgivness.  “I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven-for she loved much.  But he who has been forgiven little loves little.”  (Luke 7:47)  Therefore, as god’s chosen people, holy and dearly LOVED, clothe yourselves with compasion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you amy have against one another.  Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”  (Colossions 3:12)

This is true unity.  You can’t control what happens to you, but you can control how you resond.  Your response determines not only your own future but the future of every generation that follows you.  Unforgiveness will bind you and your children, it will not free you.  Therefore, we enslave ourselves by our poor response.  So watch yourselves.  “if your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.  If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, ‘I repent,’ forgive him”  (Luke 17:3-4).  It’s easy to forgive when you realize the ignorance of man  “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)

It’s easy to blame and maybe there is some validity in it, but it doesn’t matter in the end because if we don’t forgive we will never have freedom or peace.  There is a soup of reasons that create a problem.  I guess my question is, are we doing our part?  If you read early in the article, it mentions media, music, films…do you work in these industries?  Do you work in the industry that allows these things on the internet or on television?  Do you allow these things in your own home?  Do you buy these products and support them?  If so, you are also part of the problem.  It may believe it’s a small part of the problem, but are you doing your part even in the smallest way?  But that’s not the most important way we can do our part.

You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge in the sinful nature, rather, serve one another in love.  The entire law is summed up in a single command:  “love your neighbour as yourself”  If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.  (Galations 5: 13-15)

So my friends you may have knowledge, you may be educated, you may be civilized, but do you have love?  If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.  If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have no love, I am nothing.  If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres.

Not all the money, gun control and civilization will save Kenya…but there is hope!  And now these three remain; faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these is love.

I really don't have much of an opinion on this topic.  I just wanted to comment on this "justawhiteguy" 's comment.  You sound like you have a point.  BUT....I'm sorry. Scipio Africanus was just a roman....he was not of african decent.  He was only given that title after his campaign in Africa..against.....Hannibal...who also might have been called Africanas, I think.  A people of african decent may have been nicknamed that over time.  ...but the roman warrior...sorry...he was straight up Roman...olive skin and all.

Posted By: justawhiteguy (January 26, 2008 at 9:08 PM)

BloodyDiamonds, even my Nubian girlfriend thinks you sound a bit too angry for your own good. But I now admit, you do seem somewhat educated in a one-sided way, I only hope you learn to put this anger-energy into furthering the cause of the African Diaspora, without the blame-baggage that makes you seem like a raving conspiracy theorist, only more ignorant. I won't apologize for my skin-tone or my heritage, which even in my glowing whiteness is out of Africa. So please my angry cousin, keep on keepin on, just do yourself and all of our families a service, and QUIT BLAIMING THE WHITEMAN FOR ALL OF YOUR PROBLEMS. With hope and God's grace, the African Bigotry that you spout will not replace the European bigotry you despise.

PS: Cypio Africanus, the great Roman warrior, was a black man. So much for the conspiracy...

Um correction, Ethiopia was not colonized.  They defeated the Italians at the Battle of Adwa in 1896.

Posted By: blooddiamond (January 26, 2008 at 8:32 PM)

Oh! justawhiteguy, please go and re-take world history 101.  The europeans weren't so lowly.  Please review Roman History and you'll see that the visigoths, ostragoths and other germanic hostiles of europe were conqured by the Roman Army.  Justawhiteguy you apparently don't know that europe is the product of the Roman expanse.  Even during the decline of the empire of the Ceasars and the rise of the Holy Roman Empire (the Church-State) the Pope was elected as the earth manifestation of god to rule with absolute and unchallenged power.  This meant the formation of Papal laws and the extension of the Pope's power through the ordination of Papal territories.  The system was enforced and with each passing generation, the succeeding generation assumed the indoctrination of the Holy Roman Empire's domain.  Government, laws, business, commerence, culture and finance (which resulted in the later day Italy's renaissance Medici Dynasty headed by Cosimo the Elder and later Lorenzo de Medici or Lorenzo the Magnificent) all were adopted by these (as you justawhiteguy called them) lowly europeans.

Remember justawhiteguy, Marco Polo ventured deep into Asia and returned with what we call today, gunpowder!!  This weapon was formidible and it was used with deadly accurate force against people who didn't know of it's existence.  Justawhiteguy, you are obviously way down on the ladder of historical events.  Wipe your own ass of ignorance first and then maybe you can dialogue with me about the plight people of African Diaspora face today.  Have a good day justawhiteguy, obviously most of you do anyway.

Posted By: justawhiteguy (January 26, 2008 at 8:12 PM)

PS: BloodyDiamonds, you talk about needing to stop the hate in the same rant that calls whites a "mutated sub-culture" made up of "beasts" that toppled your "chosen people"... Your angry street-education needs an influx of modern intelligence, so I suggest you apply to an institute of higher learning to illustrate how ignorant you really are, and how you need to EVOLVE to reach the higher consciousness you already profess to have. If a whiteguy had written the bigotted crap you had, it would not be acceptable to anyone, so why is this angry black idiocy any better? It is not.

Posted By: blooddiamond (January 26, 2008 at 8:06 PM)

justawhiteguy!!! stay just that, because your name says it all.  You're not worth the dialogue.

Posted By: justawhiteguy (January 26, 2008 at 7:54 PM)

BloodyDiamonds made my point! If Africa was EVER the pinacle of the civilized world, then WITH FACT NOT FANTASY explain how the "lowly" Europeans toppled the great African continent into the savagery it now wallows in. Ignorance begets ignorance, and still life goes on in the educated, modern world. This does not indict the entire Arican race to sub-cultural existance, as some of my Afrocentric colleagues have tried to do to the entirety of Europeans.  As long as one's failure is blamed elsewhere, their future will never be free! Or, as Confucius say, "Wipe your own backside, and you'll know it stays clean!"

Posted By: blooddiamond (January 26, 2008 at 7:25 PM)

Never before has there been such a proliferation of hateful carnage aimed at the total annhilation of one race of humans.  From the whitenizing of Egypt, the destruction of Nubian Chronology, the elimination of Timbuktu, the invasion of the true Holy Land (Africa) and the forced assimilation of a mutated culture (europe) on to a highly civilized people (Africans who brought fourth the seeds of God's greatness)  has ever been witnessed in the passages of history.  It is true that when the children of the beast (whites) bleed thier toxic blood on to the soil of Africas pristine shores 700 years ago, the malignancy of their evil seeds engulfed the innocence of a trusting people who did not know the horrors of true hate,  Today, we live to see the continuing saga of the worlds greatest human legacy being stripped to the bones by the doctrines of the most savage sub-species of humans (whites) ever to walk this planet.  They have a four prong approach: they send the explorers, then the military, then the missionairies and then the teachers to assimilate the masses.  It is a brutal but horrifying precise system that only comes from the evils of the beast.  Now we have Europe living in luxury and sublime splendor thanks to this same system that exploited Africa and raped it's people, killed their culture, castrated the men and made the children orphans to live under a system of terror subjected to the colonists who took ownership and still have it today.  Now we are seeing the manifestation of their plan being accelerated by the introduction of AIDS, tribal war and corrupt governments who serve their masters in europe and america.  These gangs are the end result of a purposefully orchestrated plan to arrest Africa permanetly from it's own people who, will only be nothing more than a footnote in time.  We are witnessing the last days and time if we don't stop being so damn hateful to each other.  At least the Taliban have a mission, goal and purpose.  They are called terrorists, but really!  Who are the real terrorists?  The global corporations.  I say no more.

Posted By: justawhiteguy (January 26, 2008 at 7:19 PM)

Elevate yourselves, people! This PC blame-game never ends, and neither do the world's problems when all we do is empathise with terrorists and blame civilization for the ills of the uncivilized world. Blaming Europe, gold, diamonds, or oil only adds to the victimization of the 3rd world, telling the houligans that they have no other option but to further their anarchic rapes and murder. America struggled to get to where we are today, and we have far to go still, but thankfully we as a nation are beyond blaming King George for all of our troubles. Wake up, earn your own honorable way, tie your own shoes, and walk the path of righteousness if you desire to be free. Your destiny is yours alone, and your failure is no one else's fault either. Slavery still exists in Africa, and try as some may, this can not be blamed on the Europeans, but it is still Africans enslaving Africans as it was in the past. Africa's future rests solely in African hands, so lets all wish them luck on their journey towards civilized life, instead of continuously blaming "the white guy" for any and all of their problems. Live Aloha!

Posted By: where'sthetruth (January 26, 2008 at 6:16 PM)

It amazes me that people really think so much better of themselves because the corrupt thieves of our country manages to legalize their crimes, right in front of the public's face. The United States has gangs, just like Kenya has gangs and they are all in search of the same thing. If my memory serves me, the mobb has done the "dirty work" for politicans for decades....and how is that so different. Oh that's right we glorify them in movies, so we have accepted that. Instead of giving reasons not to help, maybe brainstorm on ideas that would.

Posted By: thetruthhurts1 (January 26, 2008 at 5:55 PM)

Let's not forget that there are gangs in America!  I guess that this nation is uncivilized as well.

Posted By: thetruthhurts1 (January 26, 2008 at 5:47 PM)

Europeans…civilized?  Well, I guess everyone is entitled to his or her opinion.  bpjam, to suggest that one ignore human suffering unless it affects the collection of “oil, diamonds and gold,” then and only then the suffering and pain of others gain attention; the idea to exploit people and leave is okay… is not only uncivilized, it’s inhumane.  I agree with lift9 and truth1.  All of their comments are true.

This article is not news, its sensationalism. African nations and people have been victimized by Europe, the United States, and other nations, but these other nations are considered “civilized.”  I don’t think it is civilized to consistently, blatantly, and systematically mistreat, abuse, and sacrifice human life for gain.

Oil companies profit millions a day, and who knows how much money is made daily from the sale of diamonds and other precious metals that are bountiful in Africa.   Even the African children are not immune from the scavenging acts of their exploiters and they face mutilation or their graves at young ages for the world to enjoy diamonds, oil, and gold.

Looking at a situation in full context is needed to fully understand.  bpjam, you and those who think like you are self-centered and lack perspective as well as decency.  LOL, adamnorberg, you are so right about democratic elections in Africa!  Even democratic elections in the United States can be corrupt!

Nothing is impossible for God, so I believe that Africa definitely has hope.  There are solutions to the problems, and it starts with discontinuation of the exploitation and crimes against human that happen everyday in Africa by these “civilized nations.”

Posted By: lift9 (January 26, 2008 at 4:23 PM)

"...And apparently, none of the European countries could instill civilization upon the African citizens of any of the nations. "  What an ignorant thing to say.  That sentence tells me that you don't know what that the whites that invaded Africa did so in order to take, not give.  It also tells me that you didn't realize that the villages and cities were civilized.  Africans were killed, terrorized, beaten, jailed, segregated, and their land taken, water polluted.  Then they were reeducated by their conquerors until the land was plundered.  You should study history a bit more.

Posted By: truth1 (January 26, 2008 at 3:26 PM)

First off, Africa is a continent with 50 somewhat nations. Hypothetically speaking, it would be unreasonable to blame the whole of south America when ills are happening in a single country or to blame North America, if there was a fighting in Canada. Given many countries in Africa were colonised, their destinies were forever altered. Colonisers didnt come with the a good hearted intent to civilize Africa but to exploit their resources and expand their economic empires. They left because they were forced to. These gangs are made up of  young, uneducated Kenyans who are disillusioned by the poverty and a lack of opportunities. The elections were supposed reflect democracy & their will for change and  and it was stolen from them. These leaders are old school politicians of the immediate post-colonial africa  who learnt to be individualistic and exploitive as a result of history of colonization. They will die out! I believe the young educated african minds will gradually bring change in Africa  because time has shown that young african minds that have been afforded education are absolutely different and speak to a different possibility. Visit any college in the world and bump into African students and you will get a different picture of the possibilities of what Africa produces. As human beings, we are not doomed creatures but a product of our experiences and environments.

This is a very sad issue for not only the people of kenya but the rest of the world. These hoodlums are only a product of there enviroment, you can not just blame them for the way they live. Africa has a stong export that has been controlled by the corupt goverment for many many years. This is a problem that not only the USA should handle but NATO also. Just because the contry has democratic elections dose not mean that they are not corrupt. I am not saying that we should go police there country like we do with every other country that we see a problem with. But get the global police NATO involved to help the suffering people some help that they have been waiting for for decades.

bpjam, European countries did not go into Africa to "civilize" the villages and cities that were there.  They went in to steal, kill, rape, enslave, oppress, while destroying the culture and forbidding them to speak their own languages.  They stayed until they had exploited the land as much as possible, destroyed the farmland, polluted the water, killed off and imprisoned the heads of household, divided and conquered the survivors using religion.  The problems that we see today might be related to some of that.  Maybe you should take a class, read a book - or- most likely, watch a movie.  You'll surely learn something.

Maybe what they need is gun controll. Seems to work wonders in Washington DC.

Lets send a contingent of ACLU laywers headed by Koffie Annon & Butrous-Butrous Ghalie to Kenya...after all, the ACLU has done wonders in the US and Annon & Ghalie at the UN. So lets show this African nation of misguided black youth we really care & send Kenya our "A-list" team.........A one way ticket all expenses paid - including generous funeral benifits.

Come-on ACLU, Annon & Gahlie... share the love & warmth of your good intentions.

And Koffie...you might wanna throw some of those duffelbags of unmaked c-notes that you got from that "oil 4 food" thing at this one because nothing solves problems in the third world like "Cash"  Right ??!!

Yeah, aside from the obvious point that Africa is a continent and note a nation of any kind it should be noted that each of the countries in Africa have been, at one time in the recent past, a colony of some European country.  And apparently, none of the European countries could instill civilization upon the African citizens of any of the nations.   And if it weren't for the oil, gold or diamonds coming out of that huge continent we could simply go back to completely ignoring it like we did for much of the prior millenium.  The worlds largest jail might be a useful purposes for the continent since much of it is not inhabited now or ever in the past.

I have read the article and being from kenya i think its a big shame for us to use the worst names but this is due to lack of knowledge.most of the people who are in these gangs are not learned and when they hear of such names being mentioned on TV they think its better to use to make popular. Most of these groups are incited by politicians who give them money during campaign to cause chaos, they are promised things that they will never get like good jobs if they vote for them are better housing.Last in the past elections most of them expected to get houses from some houses owned by a certain community if that person wins and they were angry by the outcome of the elections coz they knew they won't get what they were promised. But what i have to say Leaders are the problem coz they are just like those gangs, and they should be the ones to find a solution,so there's no solution to that.

The citizens of Africa have been dirt poor and abused for centuries. When people are poor and hungry it is easy to get them to join a gang. Africans cannot govern themselves they cannot overcome government corruption and ruthlessness. No one respects or trust any government in Africa. Unfortunately many tribes and race will become extinct in Africa.  It is a sad situation in many African countries unfortunately there is no solution to their  problems. Every possible solutiion on this continent depends on local governments. The system is beyond repair and I feel bad for the people there. There are no more Mandela's in Africa, Africans are influenced the most by Western Images than Nelson Mandela. Once again Africa is arming itself and God help us if they get nuclear weapons.
