I am sure this superstition nonsense is tongue in cheek. The more imporatant issue is the totali illiteracy of PAD supporters. I have no doubt that they claim to fight for the democcracy of Thailand. It is obvious that PAD supporters have no idea what democcracy is all about. They must think that freedom of expression is an unrestricted right and that it extend to their quoxitic attempt to dislodge the elected government by turning Bankok into a rubbish dump.
PAD has no idea that their actions constitutes open rebellion and I am very surprised that PM Wongsawat has not declared matshal law to clamn the situation. The PAD are not decent politicians, but mere thugs !

It appears that neither of these "journalists" have spent much time in Thailand. The comment about the used sanitary napkins is bogus - it never happened. Additionally, to even suggest the current or former government was/is democratically elected is ridiculous unless you consider massive vote buying and corruption to be a part of the democratic process. The Thai Courts are in the process of handing down what is expected to be a guilty verdict against the People's Power Party (PPP) for election fraud. The PPP consists of former members of the Thai Rak Thai Party(also disolved for election fraud) created by former PM now fugitive Thaksin.
The remainder of this article appears poorly researched and lacks any real value unless one is interested in sensationalism. I would have expected a much more thorough analysis of events from Newsweek.
