No one seems to speak for the palestinian people.  In reality, no one appears so designated.  Until this (rather primitive in today's world) condition is resolved, no negotiation can be meaningfully undertaken.  It seems as if arab peoples do their own political "thing" without consequence.  They kill each other by the hundreds without popular uprisng against the killers, yet they severely and quickly punish each other for silly crimes like theft. It seems like a nightmare from hell itself.  Until some sort of internal consensus is established, how on earth can they expect peace or  a meaningful response from any nation.  Clearly, Israel needs to be reigned in and Palestine needs to be recognized as its equal, but there seems no one in the Palestine camp to deal with. The default position ends up being a day in day out dealing with the only intact nation of the mix, Isreal.  My sense is it is this rather than "zionism" that lies at the core.  Concerning the alleged "zionist" influence -- most americans, i believe, consider "zionism" to be archaic and stupid.  If the US was attacked by zionists, I am certain that retribution would be total, quick, and well supported. Anything that threatens this political experiment called the "United States"  brings popular wrath, and popular wrath brings devastation (watch for this with a nuclear armed North Korea, Iran, and a similarly armed fundamentalist Pakistan -- it will simply be a matter of time and degree of popular fear and anger).  No president dares ignore this for long. So it is currently with the banks and investment community (that's why many have admitted buying handguns for self-protection).  For any nation to miss this reality (more likely, in this case, arab than israeli)  is to entirely misunderstand the essence of this nation. Like any group, however silly, zionists exist at the whim of the people -- so long as they know their place.

No offense, but is there an editor in the house? That headline is deplorable.
