Unfortunately the public is made to look even more stupid for electing a leadership who has no interest in strengthening the United States of America.
As to the "Liberal Media" all conservatives would be well advised to check the party affiliations of the owners; by in large, mostly Republican. The real issue here is the wanting disregard that has been shown for our real economy. It should be no surprise to any with investor savvy that the shell game has collapsed. The unfortunate reality is our leaders did nothing to protect our economy. The worst is yet to come without drastic change in policy and trade affairs. We need to earn our keep and not by selling "voodoo derivatives" that are not only worthless but are actually fraudulent in any real sense. To insure a thing that does not exist is foolish; to think you can collect on the destruction of a thing that never existed is insane. At any rate; we will see what the Democrats can do in the next four years. Perhaps they can, with good intent, restore our country.
I remain about the policies and issues and until I start making over 250,000 dollars a year; McCain and his Party do not represent me well. I believe in tax cuts for those who need it. That would be me and not George Bush, Dick Cheney, and Cindy McCain.

I agree. It's not about the issues anymore. It's about clothes, hairstyles, eyeglasses and making the other guy appear to be too old, young, stupid, etc. When anyone wants to ask a valid question, they are attacked. Whether or not you like "Joe the Plumber", the guy should have a right to ask a question if the candidate approaches him in his own front yard. Am I not allowed to ask about animal rights just because I happen to be human? Am I not allowed to ask about a candidate's policy on Social Security even though I am not near retirement age? Am I subject to a background check just because I ask what the guy's views are? Who wants to go into politics in this kind of environment?
The problem gets worse when this junk is posted on the internet. Just look at what has been posted about Palin's alleged IQ. It has been proven to be false, but people continue to spread it around. The same thing has been happening with the Obama birth certificate/Muslim crap. When people forward this stuff, it makes them look foolish. It also muddies the water.
The media (including the bloggers) will continue to do it because it sells advertising.
There are plenty of reasons to choose whom you will or will not vote for. Please make sure your sources are credible, however.
There are certain ingrained qualities a leader has. (Voting "Present" a record number of times is not one of them). There are certain things that show a person's true belief in their country. John McCain spent five years in a prison camp where he was beaten, tortured, some of it in solitary confinement, and received no treatment for his injuries. (If he looks a little stiff to you it's because the untreated injuries have left him with limited use of his arms). After three years of being beaten and tortured he was offered early release as part of a propaganda ploy but he refused early release citing the military Code of Honor and stating that he would leave only when the others taken before him were first released. This led to him staying imprisoned for two more years of intensified torture and beatings. Do you, in all honesty, see anything at all in Barack Obama that would lead you to believe he would do the same out of respect and honor of this country?

I do not blame my problems on the failed leadership of George Bush and the republican administration. I remain fine through all of his blunderings. I do blame him for the wasted blood and treasure, for his irresponsible spending policies, his irresponsible tax breaks to the wealthy, for his failed economic policies and for his utter failure to protect the country from the wallstreet vampires. As our top executive he has been ineffective while the country has been plundered and cheated. He has lied to the poeple on numerous occasions and not the truth has hit the street. It is no wonder that a freshman democrat will win the Presidency thanks to Gorge Bush.

General Petreus is systematically moving troops from Iraq to Afganistan in a well planned manner to start securing that country as well. Biden said he graduated in the top of half of his law-school class, he graduated 76 out of 85, and to show his connection with everyday folks said he sometimes hangs out at Katie's restaurant in Wilmington, Del., only it turns out the place has been closed for 20 years, plus there are many many more blunders. During the debates he made 7-8 verified errors about the duties of the vicepresident and foreign affairs. Yet, the biased media chose to show you Sarah Palin as the bumbling one. They were worried that Ayers wouldn't stop there, because as the saying goes, "Where the Fu Manchu lurks, the Mullet follows." I mean, what could he do?

A. Because for 20 years, Senator Obama was attending the wrong church. For all that time, he thought he was attending the anti-American and racist church of Reverend Jedediah Wright, which is next door to Reverend Jeremiah Wright's church. When he realized his mistake, Senator Obama immediately cut all ties with Jeremiah Wright and started attending Jedediah Wright's racist and anti-American church, as he had originally intended 20 years earlier.
In Senator Obama's defense, the confusion may have been due to the fact that both churches have similar names. Reverend Jeremiah Wright's church is The First Church of African-Americans Who Hate America and White People, and Reverend Jedediah Wright's church is The Original Church of African-Americans Who Hate America and White People. I agree with you, Rabbitsphincter, that this distinction would never trip up a white person, and this error on Senator Obama's part certainly does call into question his ability not only to lead but to make decisions as well. Who wants to vote for a guy who doesn't know the difference between first and original??? Not me, that's for sure.

A. Because in the state in which this action was initiated lawsuits filed by white people against black people are required by law to go forward, regardless of the merits. State law (and this state's constitution, I might add) also requires that verdicts always be found in favor of the plaintiff.

In essence, should one of your employees read any of this thread, see your remarks, and figure out who you are with reasonable proof, they already have grounds to press a federal case against yourself and your business for attempting ti implement intimidation, whether direct or implied, upon them in order to influence their vote through threat of punishment or reprisal.
This is something I would state and make clear whether you supported either candidate and i do not relate this in support of either candidate. I note this to educate you in the simple fact that, at least under the ideals of the United States that are supported by those who truly wish for a fair and unbiased government that seeks to protect those smae rights... the right of any voter to cast said ballot as they see fit in order to protect what they believe to be in their best interest is not to be interfered with in any way be it from any member of the general populace and up to the president and federal government itself.
Should all these employees of yours who express their political support on their own vehicles all find their employment terminated within short time, the simple fact that they all support the candidate you oppose will give reasonable cause to initiate legal action. Just as it would were you an Obama supporter and they supported McCain.

Just exactly how do you claim to know about our founding fathers and do not understand the foundation of the concept of "Separation of CHurch and State'. While not stated explicitly it was very explicitly written that there would be no National religeon". It was one of Jefferson's great fears that any state religeon would lead to abuse of authority and power similar to that the colonist were fleeing from in Europe and England. They did not write there shall be a separation of church and state; they insured it in writing the constitution. You need to read the "Founding Fathers "; not just pretend to have read them. Anyone who has knows that the majority were opposed to religeon having any authority over the people other than what they chose to allow. Finally, our founding fathers had a great appreciation for the difference between God and religeon. Most of them had a deep reverence for the divine but recognized the corrupting influence of man in religeon as it is practiced. That is why separation of church and state is essential.

While I'm at least glad to know that there was some sort of 'chain of command' followed before Palin got on the phone, I think this was very embarrasing. Whoever passed along this call should have wondered why the President of France would have wanted to speak to Palin in the first place. Additionally, some of the comments made by the fake Sarkozy should have raised at least an eyebrow, but Palin kept talking to him like he was her next door neighbor.

Apparently, you are not aware that the Navy assigns different names to their ranks than the other services do. A Captain in the Army is a junior officer (O-3). However, a Captain in the Navy is equivalent to a Colonel in the Army (O-6).

ok, this year was an eyeopener. I was on yaz the birth control and became pregnant, well at 14 weeks I found out that i was having twins. At 20 weeks they needed surgery inutero. well the surgery failed and they wher born at 24 weeks and died with in the first week. They suffered from TTTS, and we were given the option to select one to save the other, I personally never believed in abortion, but I wish I would have saved one of my sons. Now, I see you look at the man or woman running and I realize that it is not the governments job to make everyone religious, but their job is to govern and not restrict people family needed choices. Everyone should have health care, and I find it very interesting the the same people who are accusing Obama of socialization, are the same people trying to restrict other in different choices they can make in their life.

REPEAT: "The call had been routed through France …" That means the call originated in Montreal (probably by virtue of a computer-based phone routing system (which can facilitate such a call more readily than standard land-lines)) It was then bounced back to the U.S. and through Palin's handlers and eventually to her.
As others have already commented, I have no issue with her taking the call, which she believed had already been cleared through her handlers, I do take exception to the fact that she handled the conversation very poorly and with less political decorum than the status of the personage would dictate.
I have associated with many political figures and people of high standing within governments. Without exception I referred to them all by title. "Governor, I noticed …" , "Yes. Thank you, Congressman …", "Excuse me,. Senator …" Even when encouraged to call them by first name, I find it difficult to do so and, depending on their own personal decorum, sometimes never reach that point. (And this from someone who has no problem calling judges by first name and even clowning with them and exchanging sometimes irreverent chatter!) And, while I have never had the pleasure to dine with a head of state, I cannot imagine I would relegate them to anything less than the accord offered a governor or senator or congressman.
Disregarding the fact that this was a prank call, Palin showed poor judgment in opening a conversation with someone she believed to be the head of a foreign government with such a familiar address.
Come on people, quit using the "Obama is going to raise taxes", he's not a US citizen", blah, blah, blah as your basis. I have never supported, worked for, donated to a canidacy before. I have been with Barack Obama since he announced his canidacy. It has been a long and hard journey and it has been made harder by the discovery of just how many people were ready willing and able to drink from the fountain of hate that sprung from some fringe elements of the GOP and its more radical supporters... I call them radical because they are WAY out there and at least to start with a great number of the GOP wasnt effected. But as time went on it seemed that more and more people went to the darker side. Even the McCain campaign has trended ever darker. There was a time when I thought it wouldnt be the worst thing in the world if McCain was elected president. I have fought against believing the worst about this man and his supporters. Im an independant, heck.. Im a maverick way MORE than Mr Maverick himself. I respect that. But I lost respect for McCain when he lost respect for himself. He lost his honor by supporting lies and innuendo, by promoting smears. There is NOT a single day that goes by where I dont get robo calls promoting the lies of the McCain campaign and when I get the mail its full of lies too. As a Business owner who employs 30 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama, might wll be our next President, and that my Taxes and Fees, will go up in a BIG way.
To compensate for these increases, I figure, that the Customer, will have to see an increase in my
fees to them of about, 8%. I will also have to lay off 6 of my employees. This really bothered me as I believe we are family here and I didn’t know how to choose who will have to go.
So, this is what I did. I strolled thru the parking lot and found, 8 Obama bumper stickers on my employees cars. I have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off.
I can't think of another fair way to approach this problem. If you have a better idea, let me know.

to KJC03 I went to school there in the days when it was segregated, came back after Vietnam and we elected our first black mayor. The white neighborhoods I lived in tried to offset the black majority by annexing the entire well-to-do West end of the counties. We did all the busing thing, merged the several county school districts into one with one pot of money for everyone. That made it legal for all those well to do families to bus their kids to the not so well-to-do city schools, and vice versa. Guess what? The city schools suddenly got better! Ya! I knew Richmond when it was crawling with Republicans. But my original point was to say it would be a good sized town for Sarah to be mayor of instead of governor of Alaska. Obviously we lived there in different times.

Tax breaks for the wealthy at a time we are borrowing at the highest rate in History from China which is money our children will have to repay.
And again we watch as the Republican Party cannot run their campaign on the issues. Taxes, health care, environment, education, social security, retirement, clean air, global warming or most importantly bringing everyone back together to deal with the problems we have.
Instead John McCane selects as his running mate a dunce whose first appearance is to get on National TV at the Convention and make fun of Barrack Obama being a community activist. You know. Someone who tries to help others in the community. McCane selects a women who does not even agree with him on most issues. A choice he made solely to try to get those women mad about Hillary losing, instead of selecting someone qualified to be President if he died.
The McCane camp then allows the campaign to become a pit bull attack on a good human being.

Sarah just isn't taken very seriously. Governor of Alaska sounds very impressive but the reality is that there are only some 683,000 people in Alaska, and about half of them live in metro Anchorage. Getting half the votes to get elected was about as difficult as becoming the mayor of Richmond, Virginia. Beauty queen, religious right Republican, Lot's of entertainment value, she should have run in Richmond. She might have won! But as VP. I don't think so. Granted the job won't be as difficult as when Dick Cheney took office. It's very hard to run the country from the back room while keeping "W" at bay. For the first year in office George wasn't allowed to ad-lib anything, "Read it from the paper George." But honestly after getting a peak of her religious experiences, we just don't want to think about someone "like" Pat Robertson or the ghost of Jerry Falwell walking around in charge. This is the 21st century. Gays have rights, people who choose not to worship God have rights, low income families have rights, future Americans have some expectation of living a life in a country that doesn't owe the world their soul in debts. The word that comes to mind in matters of real solutions to real problems is "Clueless."

Most of us does not know the real meaning of our names and if we could trace the meanings we may not like them at all because some common names have pegan/fatish meanings. So if a Persons name linkes him to being a Pegan, Hinduist or Muslim and he/she denies not being of that Religion why should we constantly accused him of such and remind him/she of something he/she did not cause directly or not have a conrtol over?

If McCain wanted to pick a female Republican running mate, there were many more experienced, intelligent and qualified women than Palin. Instead, he picked arm candy. The entire state of Alaska has less than 700,000 residents and is fiscally healthy. Each year, every resident receives oil fund checks. This past year it was just under $1,700 per person. The point is, Palin is nothing more than a glorified mayor who got where she is on her looks and carefully calculated ambition. Die-hard Republicans have to support her, but really, in their heart of hearts, I bet they are afraid of the prospect of her becoming President. Palin doesn't deserve the honor of being the first woman to hold the office of Vice-President or more importantly, President. The prospect is sickening. There must be a glut of constitutional idiots out there who think that a congress that holds a slim majority, one party over the other, can do anything without bypartisan cooperation and the support of the president. Only by a clear majority can the congress act without that support: a support that almost never exist. For that last four years the house and senate was controlled for two years by Republicans and then,by a very slim majority, for two years by Democrats. The current President has and would vetoe any legislation that is not consistent with his incompetent vision, as demonstrated by our failing economy, for our future so the current leadership in the house and senate are at best only able to propose a bill to him. Without bypartisan support it can not pass. Since the Republicans want to make the Democrats look bad they only allow that to pass which is self serving to their need while they continue to ignore the needs of the country. When it comes to bailing out the Wall Street Rich there was no problem getting the Republicans and the president on board. Still there is no help available for the working middle class because we are the no-accounts.
Perhaps a little study of the constitution is indicated by those who fail to understand the working of our government. Hopefully the average Joe, not the liar types but the real ones, have had enough with the manipulations of the wealthy and will once again demand a government for the people and by the people by casting responsible votes on 11--04-2008.

Markanthis, Islam is not a race, it's a religion. You can no more more inherit your parents religion through birth than you inherit their personal prejudices--both of these must be taught. To be a Muslim, you have to believe first that there is no other god than Allah, Mohammed was his prophet, the Koran was the last of Allah's sacred writings (that include the Torah and the Gospel of Jesus, by the way), life on earth is a test to prepare you for the afterlife, and the faithful will go to heaven to be with Allah eternally. You're not born with those beliefs, they have to be taught. Just as not every American is Christian, not every Kenyan is Muslim. Palin is a victim of more of the same. Steve Bifgun was Bush's National Security Advisor appointed under the same criteria as the FEMA Director. He was on duty during all of the security failures under the OLD adminstration, so it stands to reason he would continue his attention to detail in screening calls. He will do better when appointed to head up the CIA or FBI by McCain/Palin.

In this country (US) we are not ruled by a sovereign king. Because of the Statute of Limitations, it is the Congress who is largely accountable for the decisions made in our political arena by their votes. If you are unhappy with the current decisions made by votes of the US House and Senate, (such as in the example of economic irresponsability in Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac) then consider carefully who has been in charge of the House and Senate for the past four years.

When we get down to pure technicalities... everyone out there has blood other than Christian in them. Even Crist himself was Jewish and descended from a Jewish bloodline. This means that everyone on earth has Pagan blood in them... no matter how diluted.
Then we can also state that unless your bloodline started with one of the 12 Apostles (which means that they would have had to have been directly created by God as He did Adam and Eve rather than being born of a mother and father...) you have blood of other religions within you.

Then NOBODY is a true and pure Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, Taoist, etc. (Even the only way you could be pure "Pagan" is if from the dawn of mankind nobody of any non-Pagan blood ever entered into your family in your ancestry. And there are a few places where this is possible, but VERY few int his day and age.)

Sen. McCain is an intelligent man, when he was chosen during the primaries, I read his platform and thought "I could cope with him as Pres." Not saying I liked him or agreed with everything he was saying, just that I could tolerate what he was speaking of then. After doing some research on her in the first week she was announced as his running mate, I quickly decided I could not vote for him.

As it is now, all I see on this list (for the most part) are people who are unwilling, unable, or simply don't know HOW to provide a positive example. Buzzwords, unfounded accusations, misinformation, and insults are flying from all sides and the only people who are truly looking bad in this are those who are participating.

I think the whole Palin and McCain campaing just falling apart. Maybe McCain can use that excuse with others to blame Palin for loosing the first African-American running against him. I don't believe Obama has the necessary experience that is needed to run the country. And THAT, my dear, is the thanks the middle class has gotten for the tax breaks given to the big companies that were supposed to be invigorated to create jobs on the homefront! I've spoken with many who have lost their homes, good friends included. It was NOT because they were "dumb" (your word) people who'd gotten in over their heads!

This is hilarious. She just really isn't that bright is she? I still don't know what the heck McCain was thinking when he picked her.I used to have a lot of respect for that man, now, I'm voting for Obama. Stillhavehope was right about one thing; "we need to get to a point where the rest of the world respects us again." I have relatives in England and Australia and they say everyone is pulling for Obama, same with Canadians and Germans, even people from China and Japan. I even remember seeing the welcome he got while touring overseas...he has the ability to repair relations. Palin seems like a decent person, but I have heard alot of the tape and if she really thinks that is how you speak to a President then she has much to learn. Does she really think a President would refer to his sexlife or wife in that way? Wow. Thank goodness there is only a slim chance they can get voted in.

Moderate Republican: Yes, taxing the rich and redistributing the results is socialism. No question. That is exactly what Sarah Palin did in Alaska as governor. She proudly raised taxes on the oil companies, and used a portion of the returns to write a $1200.00 check for every Alaskan. Both were her programs, and no, it wasn't a return of taxes. We in Alaska don't pay state income taxes. I supported both actions.
