Today: On the Trail with Obama in Pennsylvania

Andrew Romano

MALVERN, Penn.--I'm posting from the gymnasium of Great Valley High School in Malvern, Penn., where Barack Obama is set to speak any moment to a full house of students and local voters. There's the usual ruckus: chants of "Ba-RACK O-BAM-a" and "Yes, We Can" interrupted by half-hearted attempts at the wave and the occasional cry of "Woo!" from an impatient teenage girl. I'll be back with a report after the event, and then it's off to Levittown on the New Jersey border, where the Illinois senator is scheduled to address another high school later this afternoon. Stay tuned for more...

I am glad that the Media is finally beginning to report that Penn is still an active part of the Hillary campaign and that he is not gone. It was misleading and a disservice of the Media to report that Mark Penn had been fired or had stepped down or that he would not be affilated with the Clinton campaign.  After all, Maggie Williams' statement is "After the events of the last few days, Mark Penn has asked to give up his role as Chief Strategist of the Clinton Campaign; Mark, ...  will continue to provide polling and advice to the campaign. " From the following statement it is accurate for the Media to say he has been DEMOTED!  Now we are finding out from the Media that Bill Clinton has been very active in Nafta and made money from speeches in favor of it..  Is anyone surprised?

Anyone with any Political smarts and Political savvy, should know that the Clintons are not REALLY getting rid of Penn and that this is just another smoke screen -- he is far too valuable to them and knows WAY too much for them to push him under the bus. He will still be pulling the strings behind that Wizard of Oz Curtin, as they say, polling and advising! This is just more double talk, double speak, misstate, misspeak and misspoke moment. He is still on the Morning Conference Calls! If Hillary wants any credibility on this story, Mark Penn should step down for Real!   And as for her recent "staged" call to pull out the troops, she is playing a part.   Hillary is a consumate actress and misstress of spin, who will say and do anything to get elected no matter how detrimental to the party -- fuel a gender & racial divide and no matter how untruthful (Bosnia, Nafta)!  However, we got a 3:00 Bosnian Phone Call and no one believes her anymore.  Barack does not have to pretend.  He does not need to speak loudly or need pomp to get attention.  He is real and authentic.
