Farewell 2008 Campaign; Congratulations President-Elect Obama

Newsweek

Congratulations to Barack Obama, soon to be our 44th President and a man who had made history this week by becoming the first person of African-American descent to be elected to chief executive of the nation.

With the end of the 2008 Presidential Campaign comes the time to wrap up what has been a wonderful partnership between the Media Bloggers Association and Newsweek. We joined together to produce "The Ruckus", a group blog for bloggers covering the 2008 Presidential race.

For the past year, MBA member bloggers have provided readers a cutting-edge perspective on politics at Newsweek.com. We were fortunate enough to have had a great group of bloggers, each contributing fascinating insights during one of the most historic elections in the history of the United States. Thank you to each of them for their contributions to Newsweek's campaign coverage.

We began the campaign season with bloggers in key primary states: Adam Fogle in South Carolina at The Palmetto Scoop, Dean Barker in New Hampshire at Blue Hampshire, Chris Woods in Iowa at Bleeding Heartland and nationally known bloggers including John Amato and his folks over at Crooks and Liars, Joe Gandelman and his hyperactive bloggers on The Moderate Voice, Oliver Willis at his eponymous blog OliverWillis.com in DC, James Joyner outside DC at Outside the Beltway, Faye Anderson in New York at Anderson@Large and Ed Morrissey at Captain's Quarters.

As the campaign shifted we added Jeralyn Merrit and her crew in Colorado at TalkLeft, Brian Leubitz in California at Calitics, David Oatney in Tennessee at The World According to Oatney, Greg Palmer in Pennsylvania at Keystone Politics and Jill Zimon in Ohio at Writes Like She Talks.

Throughout we had the support of Carl Sullivan and Mark Coatney at Newsweek.com and behind the scenes making things work were Alex Yuriev of Zubr Communications and Colin Hill at Scoop Host.

Our goal was to provide Newsweek readers a convenient sampling of some of the best political blogging from across the country and from key primary states. I think readers will agree that our bloggers delivered. The Ruckus became a fascinating window into all the exciting discourse and discussion that is taking place on political blogs today.

We hope you enjoyed reading the bloggers as much as we enjoyed bringing them to you.

Barack Hussein Obama is a fake and a thug from dirty Chicago politics and thats all. He never governed before , never accomplished anything before and he's out of touch.

We about to witness the biggest political mistake in the history of the USA. This guy , first of all was born in Kenya and he's a Muslim.

Second, he wants to free the terrorists at Guatanamo Bay. These are the same terrorists whose sole purpose is to destroy America and kill Americans. He wants to grant these killers human rights and justice. Barack Hussein Obama is a liability to the safety of the USA.

Third, his crazy spending of trillions to stimulate the economy , hand out tax rebates (welfare) to those who don't pay taxes and are too lazy to work , stupid alternative uses of alternative energy and use of electric cars that constantly need recharging will spell the doom of the US economy.

Barack Hussein Obama is a bust. He's even for Gay rights. Heck, if I was President I would ship these Gays, Lesbians and Transexuals that are just deviant troublemakers in society all to Guatanamo Bay where they belong.

BRING BACK GEORGE W.BUSH !!

I, for one, am extremely glad the election is OVER. I have viewed many "blogs" and have never in my life seen so much cursing, name calling and/or just plain ignorance.  I am neither Republican, nor Democrat - have never voted for a "party".  I wrote in a candidate as I could not vote for either on the ballot.  If people truly mean what they say in these venues - our country is hopelessly divided - that is not a good sign at all.  I am tired of all the "hoopla" and lies that have been streaming over the media for months.  Makes no difference who won - we are all in the same boat - sink or swim.

Robert Cox

President

Media Bloggers Association

Mr Cox, Mr Andrew Romano, Bloggers and Newsweek :

I am extremely sad that the Ruckus and Stumper are not working now after the elections. Why ??

Because it was very high quality, intellectual reports and information. Usually Liberal Opinions but without extremism or hate.

This was a group of people dedicated to inform us and make light on many topics.

This served as one of the best sites to inform voters and non voters.

I would love if Ruckus and Stumper can be resurrected somehow.

And about Newswek :

Newsweek is a Publishing House than loves Freedom, Liberties and Democracy.

There are many "liberal" websites that suppress, erase, or censor what I write, but Newsweek is not one of them.

I am astonished to see that people are liberals and freedom loving as long as others agree with them.

But Newsweek respects opinions, as long as there is no hatred, insults or aggressions.

That is not common, Newsweek, You are exceptional, You are WONDERFUL !.

Thank you Newsweek, Thank  you Bloggers of the Ruckus and Andrew Romano of Stumper. I love your posts and comments.
